Like
any media, web communication involves a marriage between the person,
company or institution transmitting the message and the individuals
who constitute the audience you are seeking to influence.
In my web design work I like to keep that idea at the
forefront of my thinking.
What audience are you trying to reach? Assuming you have targeted
your audience correctly, and as fully as possible, what do you want
them to do as a result of reading your messages?
For commercial organisations you usually want them to buy your
products, or use your services. For non-commercial organisations
what you are seeking to achieve might be more complex.
From my background in journalism and the audio-visual arts, I bring
to my work extensive experience and knowledge of the creative, intellectual
and emotional aspects of communication. From my background in physics,
electronics, computing and the sciences, I bring to my work extensive
experience and knowledge of the technical possibilities, and the
constraints imposed by the mediums I am working in.
